The Pikolinos brand has a distinctive personality. Our products are handcrafted and made from natural leather that is both soft and durable. The emphasis on comfort, the exclusivity of our designs and our unique colour palette are all key characteristics of our brand’s collections.
The concept of our products is based on a combination of the brand’s key characteristics with the use of cutting-edge technologies to ensure that all of our clients can enjoy top quality and unique footwear.
Another key feature of many of our designs is their sewn-on sole. This gives the shoe maximum flexibility and allows it to adapt to each individual’s foot to achieve maximum comfort.
THE BEST MATERIALS AT YOUR FEET
Our commitment to quality begins even before the shoe is designed and made. The first step in the process is the selection of the leather. Pikolinos chooses to work with superior cattle hide. Our leathers undergo an exclusive leather treatment process using the special products and natural waxes of Pies Cuadrados, a company within Grupo Pikolinos that specializes in leather tanning.
Our leather is treated with casein, a protein found in milk that sticks to the leather’s pores and gives it a radiant shine and natural look. Pikolinos leathers do not contain any resins or plastic films for protection purposes. As a result, the leather’s pores remain intact allowing your feet to breathe easily. In 2012, Pikolinos launched its ‘Cyclonatura’ leather, which is 100% hypoallergenic, ecological and free from metals. It is a healthy and comfortable option for our clients and is particularly environmentally friendly.
ECOLOGICAL LINE
With the launch of its AMAZONAS collection in 2005 and its ORINOCO collection in 2008, Pikolinos became the first Spanish footwear brand to obtain the European Ecolabel certification. This label is only assigned to products manufactured with ecological materials; with chrome-free leathers, biodegradable outsoles and non-pollutant metals.
Our tanning process requires 85% less chemical oxygen for wastewaters, and our manufacturing techniques emit low water and air pollution. By keeping our processes free from toxic substances using vegetable tanned leather, we create hypoallergenic footwear.
Shoes from these collections have total quality assurance, and are ecologically manufactured in accordance with the European Ecolabel standards, which test the durability of the leather, the sole and their adhesion. To comply with these strict requirements all components of the shoes are checked (laces, threads, velcros, etc), as well as the leather, textiles and soles.
The results obtained from these European controls meet the Pikolinos standards, which are even more exacting than those the required by the European Union. As a result, Pikolinos can guarantee the highest controls are applied to all their components. Also in line with our philosophy, we make our shoe boxes out of recycled cardboard.
